Due to our damp and humid climate here in the UK, many older homes suffer from poor air quality which causes them to develop condensation and black spot mould issues. If these conditions are left untreated, they can cause respiratory infections, allergies, asthma and immune system issues
Do you wipe your windows every morning and scrub that wall corner in your room every Sunday, and the black mould still keeps coming back?
That's the reality for a lot of older homes, especially those with solid walls.
Black mould isn't stubborn, it's just doing what black mould does when warm air hits cold walls. Most mould grows because moisture in the air condenses on cold surfaces, especially on external walls, corners, behind wardrobes, furniture etc and around window frame reveals. You can clean it off, but if the wall stays cold, it usually comes back. This is why surface temperature matters. It is usually the winter months where these issues are more prevalent, when the temperature drops and we are more likely to keep our windows closed to retain what heat there is in the house. This is how black spot mould forms, as shown in the image below.
Do you live in an older property that has issues with damp, condensation and black mould, but has awkward spaces or original period features such as cornice etc?
No problem for SprayCork insulated plaster! This is a breathable, natural and sustainable product which is proven to reduce heat loss by up to 30% and it can be trowel or spray applied to internal wall surfaces to solve issues with damp and mould. Cork is a natural insulating material, and when applied as a seamless, breathable coating it can help raise the temperature of problem walls and reduce the conditions that mould needs to grow.
It's not about killing mould with sprays. It's about stopping your walls becoming cold, damp surfaces in the first place. If mould keeps returning to the same spots year after year, that's usually your home telling you something, and it's worth listening to.
The cork coating is only 4-5mm thick so no need to move radiators or remove skirting boards. This can then be plastered over with finishing plaster to give a smooth finish ready for decoration. You are left with an invisible solution that mould or damp cannot form on. As trained applicators we can now insulate internal walls in your home efficiently with minimal disruption.
